Move Money is a single place for managing all your payments and transfers from your HSBC US accounts.

You can move money between your accounts (both international and United States), make payments to other people, or pay your bills. You also have the option to setup payees, save them for future payments and pay up to 5 bill payees in a single location.

For eligible move money options, you can choose for the transaction to happen immediately, on a future date or set up recurring payments between your accounts or to someone else.

For transfers between your checking and saving accounts in your own country and in the same currency, you can also use Quick Transfer on the My accounts page.

How do I Move money?

All Move Money functions can be accessed within the Useful links bar on the My accounts page, or by clicking the My HSBC tab at the top left of the screen and selecting from the Move Money menu.

How do I make a Global Transfers using Move money feature?

  1. To transfer money to your global accounts, navigate to the My accounts page and click on the Transfers button within the Useful links bar.
  2. Select the HSBC US account you would like to transfer from. In the To section below, select Transfers. Select the appropriate account you would like to transfer to from your list of HSBC accounts. All globally-linked accounts that you can transfer to will appear in this list.

3. Enter the transfer amount and then follow the on-screen instructions to choose when you would like the transfer to occur. A transfer can be set up for now, later or as a recurring payment.

How do I make an HSBC Credit Card Payment?

On the My accounts page, select the HSBC Credit Card you would like to make a payment to. Click on the Manage button and under the dropdown, select Make a Payment.

You can also make a payment by clicking the Manage button and under the dropdown, selecting Pay from an HSBC account.

Am I able to view My HSBC Credit Card transactions on the detailed HSBC Credit Card page?

Yes, you can view your HSBC Credit Card details. Your transactions are displayed when you select the Credit Card you wish to view.

What is the Quick Transfer function?

The Quick Transfer function is a new feature added to Personal Internet Banking. It allows you to transfer funds between your own domestic savings and checking accounts immediately. It is available on the My accounts page, within the Useful links bar.

Can I use Quick Transfer to transfer funds from my HSBC Credit Card to my bank account?

No. Quick Transfer provides the ability to transfer money immediately between your checking and savings accounts only.

Will I have to go to the full HSBC Credit Cards page to make an HSBC Credit Card payment?

No. If you have an HSBC Credit Card, you can transfer money from one of your HSBC deposit accounts to your HSBC Credit Card(s) account. Do this by selecting the Credit Card you would like to pay, click on the Manage button, and select Pay from an HSBC account.

How do I make a Bank to Bank Transfer using the Move money feature?

  1. On the My accounts page, select the Bank to Bank Transfers button within the Useful links.
  2. Enter the amount.
  3. Select the HSBC account you would like to transfer from.
  4. Select non-HSBC account you would like to transfer to.
  5. Select Send on Date. Click on the Make Recurring dropdown if you want the transfer to re-occur based on the frequency and duration you specify.
  6. Press Continue and follow onscreen instructions.

How do I add an external account to Bank to Bank Transfers?

  1. Click on the Add a New Account.
  2. Input required information on the screen. You will need the Routing Number and Account Number of the account you wish to add.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions.

How do I make a domestic or international Wire Transfer?

  1. On the My accounts page, select the Wires button within the Useful links.
  2. Select the HSBC checking or savings account you would like to transfer from. In the To section below, select the Wires/Real-Time Payments.
  3. If you have made a payment to this recipient before, select the appropriate account from My existing payees. If this is the first time you've made a payment to this recipient, you will need to click New payee. Please ensure that you have their name, address, bank code (ABA Fedwire routing number for domestic wire) and account number ready.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your payee details, payment amount, and when you would like the payment to occur.

How do I add a new Wire Payee?

A new Wire Payee can only be set up while making a new wire payment transaction. To set-up a new Wire payee, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign on the Personal Internet Banking by generating a log on security code with your HSBC Security Device.
  2. Within the Useful links bar, click Wires.
  3. On the Transfers, Wires, and Bill Pay page, select the HSBC checking or savings account from which you would like to transfer from. In the To section below, select the Wires/Real-Time Payments.
  4. Click New Payee. You will need to have the payee details and bank information. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the payee details and payment details.
  5. You will need to generate an additional code from your HSBC Security Device. Once you reach the Additional security step, generate the Transaction verification.
  6. Review and confirm your wire details to process the transfer.

Once the wire has been confirmed this new wire payee will be saved for future use and will appear on your list of existing payees.

Can wire transfers be sent from any account?

No. You cannot send wire transfers (domestic or international) from certain types of account. The list of eligible accounts will display on your payee list.

Are there any changes in the Security Requirements for sending wire transfers?

You will only be required to enter their Security Code when you set up a new wire payee (domestic or international) and send them a wire for the first time. After that, you can send wire payments to existing payees without entering a Security Code; logging in with their password is sufficient. Also, a Transaction Digital Signing (TDS) code has to entered, for additional security, during the wire payee set up process. This code is generated using a slightly different method than the security code used to log on and create the wire payee, so ensure you follow the online instructions carefully.

Please note that you will also be required to enter a security code when you need to add (or remove) a country in Global View (My HSBC tab > Add or remove a country/region link).

What if I want to send a Wire transfer but I don't know the recipient's bank ABA Routing Number?

If you do not know the identifier of the bank, you can use the bank search tool built into the Wire transfer details screen to locate the routing number of the payee's bank. Otherwise, you will need to obtain that information from the payee.
